Speedway Children’s Charities gears up for second half of 2008
After a successful beginning to 2008, the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is gearing up for a busy second half of the year.
The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host a charity dunk tank during the Night of Fire on July 3. Bullring drivers and a few special guests will take turns sitting in the dunk tank to raise money for SCC.
Cowboy Night at the Bullring will also benefit SCC, giving fans the opportunity to become a desert cowboy on a mechanical bull provided by Stoney’s Rockin’ Country.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rolls into town on Sept. 20 and SCC is planning several fundraisers throughout the weekend featuring drivers that will be participating in the Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350 at LVMS.
The highlight of the fall fundraising season is the Fifth Annual “Cards for Kids” Poker Tournament with Stars of the NHRA on Oct. 29. Race fans and poker players will have the chance to try their bluffing skills against professionals from the NHRA. Top Fuel pilots Brandon Bernstein, J.R. Todd and Morgan Lucas and Pro Stock driver Justin Humphreys have already signed on to test their poker abilities against their fans.
