Speedway Children's Charities has successful NASCAR weekend

Speedway Children's Charities had a successful 2008 NASCAR weekend, raising more than $120,000 for children of Las Vegas and Southern Nevada. The weekend began with the 10th Annual NASCAR Driver Auction on Feb. 28, at Sam's Town Live!, in Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall.

NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Bobby Labonte, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle, David Ragan, Clint Bowyer and Jeremy Mayfield were
all on hand to encourage bidders during the live auction portion of the evening.

The live auction provided fans the opportunity to bid on the chance to meet their favorite driver and participate in the pre-race parade lap during both the Sam's Town 300 on March 1, and UAW-Dodge 400 on March 2. The silent auction consisted of more than 100 items, including autographed NASCAR memorabilia, Las Vegas hotel stays, and dinner certificates.

On Sunday, March 2, before the start of the UAW-Dodge 400, the Las Vegas Chapter partnered with the NASCAR Foundation and the Kyle Busch Foundation to host the inaugural Track Walk at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  More than 600 participants walked one lap around mile and a half track as a kick-off to the start of the Sprint Cup race.  Kyle Busch served as the Grand Marshall and waved the green flag to officially start the walk.

Throughout the weekend, SCC also sold NASCAR Day pins and sold raffle tickets for the chance to win a chopper motorcycle.
